Mohit Mediratta Claims First PGK Equator Tour Title

The opening leg of the PGK Equator Tour Season 2 (2026/2027) concluded spectacularly on Sunday, 26th April 2026 at VetLab Sports Club, following four days of highly competitive golf that officially teed off on Thursday, 24th April 2026.

The tournament delivered thrilling moments throughout, culminating in a standout performance by Mohit Mediratta, who secured his first-ever PGK Equator Tour title with an overall score of -4—a milestone achievement since the inception of the tour last year.

Mediratta’s victory was further highlighted by a remarkable hole-in-one on the 11th hole during the final round, a defining moment that underscored an exceptional week of golf.

Finishing tied for second place at -1 were Mutahi Kibugu, Samuel Njoroge, and Jastas Madoya, all of whom remained strong contenders throughout the tournament. Notably, Mediratta, Kibugu, and Njoroge represent Team Safaricom in the Corporate League, while Madoya represents Team Kenya Airways, reflecting the growing impact of corporate participation in professional golf.

Tied for fifth place at +1 were defending Order of Merit champion Greg Snow and PGK Chairman C. J. Wangai, both delivering consistent performances across the four rounds.

A key highlight of the week was the Pro-Am event held on Saturday, where club members had the opportunity to play alongside top professionals, including Michael Karanga, further strengthening engagement between professionals and the wider golfing community.

The event marks a strong and exciting start to Season 2 of the PGK Equator Tour, reinforcing its role as a premier platform for competitive play and professional development in Kenyan golf.

The Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) extended its sincere appreciation to all sponsors and partners for their continued support in advancing the professional game and creating opportunities for players to compete and grow.

Following a successful opening leg, the tour now heads to Thika Sports Club in May, where professionals will once again compete as the race for top honors continues.
